Candidate's / Lieutenant's Gouge
Word from TBS is that things are moving toward a combat focus in terms of PT. Lieutenants with orders to TBS or Candidates graduating soon should alter their PT to reflect this shift. Training in boots and utes will be beneficial to all, but especially to those heading to TBS soon. With that in mind training in go fasters is also essential to speed work and endurance. Boot and utes should be a supplement to your training not a replacement.
Rifle qualifications may be changing as well. The regular week at the range for qualification is still in place however, recently the companies shot two additional courses of fire; tables two and three. These courses are labled "combat shooting" and involve; hammer pairs, failure drills, pivots, movement and night firing from 25 yards and in. As always this is not official word and only good gouge from those in training. Candidates and Marines should be constantly working to improve mentally, physically and morally.
