
After overcoming the challenges of Officer Candidates School, you have earned your place within the United States Marine Corps. You report to the commissioning ceremony as a Candidate and you leave as a Second Lieutenant. The pictures below are just a few of the new Second Lieutenants that began at the Saint Louis Officer Selection Office.
PTAD (Permissive Temporary Assigned Duty) - After being commissioned, there are opportunities to come onto active duty and work in the Officer Selection Office prior to reporting to The Basic School (TBS). During this time, you will be paid as a Second Lieutenant and you will assist in all officer procurement activites within the office. Call the OSO for more details.
The Basic School (TBS) - Your first six months on active duty will be completed at The Basic School in Quantico, VA. While much diferent than OCS, this is a challenging and fast-paced course. Be sure to visit the TBS WEBSITE to properly prepare yourself. WELCOME ABOARD PACKAGE
Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) - While at TBS, you will earn your MOS. This is based on the needs of the Marine Corps, your class rank at TBS, and your preferences of MOS. Review the following links for additional information about the various specialties:
